BFM’s Four Ps: Organization Design Doesn’t Have To Be Complicated

Sometimes, the idea of having to build up or assess a business from the ground up can seem daunting, but only if you don’t have the proper tools at your disposal. Did you hire the right people? Are your goals attainable? Do you have measurable successes?

To make this work less complicated for you, Building For Mission has developed a four-part framework that brings clarity and structure to the process.

First we take a look at your PEOPLE. What are their strengths? Where do they thrive? Where do they need support? Are the right people in the right roles? Do they work well together or are there a series of silos slowing down communications and growth?

Then we like to create a PATHWAY towards goals. This requires comparing the people assessment and your organization’s needs. Where do the gaps exist? Do you need to hire additional team members, shift a few roles, or adjust role requirements?

Our next steps include establishing a PRACTICE that will keep everyone on task. This could look like professional development programs or bringing on an HR Partner to help you manage skill-building, routine establishment, and making expectations clear. These efforts will support collaboration and retention in your organization.

Finally, you need a way of tracking your PROGRESS. Are your efforts resulting in the impact you desire? We like to use monthly or quarterly check-ins or rubrics to help you assess alignment and measure morale, that way you can adapt your strategy along the way.

A strong organization structure is a vital component to meeting your business goals, and BFM’s Four Ps is just the beginning.
